Let’s agree for your miracle

Mark 11:22-24 is no doubt familiar to anyone who has read the Gospel of Mark. It has been used as a proof text for walking by faith and not by sight. Multitudes of messages have been preached and manifold believers have been encouraged by these words, spoken by none other than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Jesus said in Matthew 18:19-20: “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are assembled in My name, there I am in their midst.”

I have said it many times, and it is just as true now as when I spoke it at the beginning of the year: agreement is essential. I want to reiterate why it is so essential in 2025 and beyond. Here are three reasons that emphasize the importance of agreement.

First, hell’s onslaught is increasing in rage and intensity—greater than any other period of my lifetime. Foremost among the reasons for this is none other than this principle, stated in Revelation 12:12: “Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe unto the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short.”

You may be concerned that this passage is referencing Satan’s fall from heaven in the ancient past, and that it doesn’t apply to current events. Let me point out that regardless of how long ago this event occurred, the Bible makes clear that the devil understood at the time of his downfall that his time was short. How much shorter must it be today—and how much greater his rage since he knows he has even less time to try to bring his plans to fruition?

And just what are those plans that the devil has for humanity? Jesus identified them in the first half of John 10:10: “The thief does not come, except to steal and kill and destroy.”

One of the greatest tools Satan has used to accomplish his purposes is division. He is not and has never been a uniter—he has always been a divider. Here is a rule you can apply to nearly every situation in life to tell whether what is happening is from God or from the devil: God multiplies, and the devil divides. Anything that divides you or separates you from anything to which God has joined you is from the kingdom of darkness. (Make no mistake, we need to be separated from sin and unrighteousness, but that is not the point I am making here.)

Here is one example of what I am talking about. Proverbs 16:28 says, “A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends.” One of the things that has given strife and whispering campaigns a measure of credibility they have never enjoyed before is social media. Anyone who has access to a computer, an electronic tablet, or even a phone can begin or augment accusations against anyone else with virtually no accountability. Even photographic or video evidence supporting a false accusation can now be curated, manipulated, or deceptively edited to make things that never happened seem real. What is even worse, now, with the advent of artificial intelligence, fake things can look just as real as legitimate things—so much so that people can’t tell the difference between them.

What this means is that the devil has more technology at his disposal to cause division than ever before. People are divided in ways they were not a generation ago. Nations are divided. Communities are divided. Families are divided. Even the church is divided against itself—with both sides claiming that their point of view is the one backed by the authority of the word of God.

There can be no doubt that we must continue to advocate for the truth, regardless of who is offended by it. Jude 1:3 says, “Beloved, while I diligently tried to write to you of the salvation we have in common, I found it necessary to write and appeal to you to contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.”

What I am advocating is that we become willing to set aside controversies about non-essential things. We must instead come into agreement with others who are genuinely born again regarding proclaiming the good news of the gospel and reaching the unreached with the hope of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

We have an adversary who is relentless in his attacks on the church. We should be even more relentless in our refusal to break ranks with other believers and resist our ancient foe with a faith that overcomes every challenge.

The second reason agreement is important is that it has always been a fundamental principle of the kingdom of God. Hear this testimony from Genesis 1:26: “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness….” To whom was God speaking in this instance? All three Persons of the godhead were involved in creation—and none of them had a minority report or a differing opinion. There was perfect unity in heaven, and anything was possible.

This principle of agreement was not limited to heaven and the counsels of the Almighty. Regarding the tower of Babel, Genesis 11:6 says, “The Lord said, “The people are one and they have one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do; now nothing that they propose to do will be impossible for them.”

God recognized that the power of agreement was so mighty that it would even enable men to fulfill unrighteous desires. This had the potential for such a disastrous outcome that God had to intervene to keep it from happening on a worldwide scale. If agreement will allow ungodly men to achieve ungodly aims, don’t you agree that it could be a powerful tool to allow the righteous to cause God’s will to become a reality in their lives? I can affirm that it does, from a long history of experience seeing it in my own life and in the lives of many others.

Here is the third reason for becoming involved in agreement: it will multiply an individual believer’s effectiveness. Agreement literally becomes a force multiplier to enable people to overcome obstacles that they may not be able to overcome on their own.

Dealing with obstacles that do not respond to individual faith, listen to this principle from Deuteronomy 32:30, spoken by Moses as part of his song of testimony, warning Israel against future apostasy: “How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them,
and the Lord had given them up?” A positive way of saying this is found in Leviticus 26:8: “Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight, and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.”

Of course, to add to these examples, we have the words of Jesus, which I will reiterate here, from Matthew 18:19-20: “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are assembled in My name, there I am in their midst.”

We have an opportunity to practice this principle in just a few short days. Our Miracle, Healing, and Victory Prayer Cloth service is approaching, and hundreds of thousands of people will be asking for our agreement in prayer regarding needs of every kind, but especially for healing in their spirits, souls, and bodies.

They may be dealing with a chronic condition that has not responded to any form of treatment or to individual prayer. They may have received a frightening diagnosis of a rare disorder or disease that has baffled medical science. Their lives may be threatened by an addiction, a behavior, or trauma that has defied their own efforts to deal with it. They may have become weary of fighting the fight of faith on their own.

We can help by coming into agreement about all these requests and more Sunday, November 23 at 10:00 am. I will join the saints in the great Sumrall tabernacle to pray, to petition heaven, and to believe God on behalf of all who call upon Him in faith and whose request is on the prayer table. I encourage you to join me. If you can come to be a part of this gathering, by all means, be present with us. If you cannot be here in person, consider joining us online. And if you have a need, or know someone who does, don’t delay in contacting me and asking that a prayer cloth be reserved for you on the table in the midst of our tabernacle Sunday, November 23.

I look forward to joining with you and multiplied thousands of other believers on this historic day as we agree together and see mighty victories demonstrated by the power of a resurrected Christ!

Yours for the Harvest,
