I am celebrating my 50th year in ministry this year. Nothing would please me more than to have you join
me at the 40th Dominion Camp Meeting, July 4-6, with a very special City Harvest Network ordination service
followed by a fantastic fireworks display Thursday evening, July 3.
Something I am thrilled to be able to announce prior to DCM this year is a special Valor College course entitled Breaking the Growth Barrier, with Dr. Alvin Reid. This special course will be offered Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, July 2-4. Dr. Reid has taught this all over the world and brought thousands of believers into a greater understanding of the importance of the Great Commission and their part in it. You can go to ValorCollege.edu to find out more about how you can be involved.
From its beginning, Dominion Camp Meeting has been a premiere event each summer for the body of Christ. It has become known as America’s Camp Meeting, but it is not only for those in the United States, but around the world. Every year, we welcome guests from nations across the globe as they come to participate in a life-changing weekend. I don’t want you to miss it!
Through the years, we have hosted guests who have been household names in the body of Christ. Many of the best-known ministers from a past generation have stood on the platform of World Harvest Church and proclaimed the gospel without compromise to the thousands gathered on our campus and around the world by means of television, and now streaming services. In addition, through the years it has been our privilege to introduce others whose names may not have been as well known to a different level of gospel ministry as a part of the roster of guest ministers at DCM.
I believe there are at least four things that set Dominion Camp Meeting apart from other meetings. I want to share their significance. As I do, I encourage you to think about how these same principles apply to the place where you minister or worship. I suggest you use these same principles to urge people to continue in regular fellowship at your local house of worship (or to return to regular fellowship if they have lapsed in attendance). After all, the Bible does tell us that fellowship with other believers will become ever more important as we anticipate the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ (see Hebrews 10:25).
First, there is the venue. Dominion Camp Meeting is held at the campus of World Harvest Church in Columbus, Ohio. This iconic building has been the site of some of the most amazing meetings in the world. Of course we know that God is omnipresent, and that He will meet people wherever they are. However, I believe that our God is also a God of not only times, but places. I also believe that God has marked out World Harvest Church as a significant portal of supernatural activity for decades. Some of the most significant miracles I have ever seen in 50 years of ministry have taken place right here in the historic Sumrall tabernacle, named in honor of my pastor, the legendary world evangelist and pastor, Dr. Lester Sumrall.
It may look different than it did 40 years ago, since we have replaced the worn out pews on the main floor with theater seats, but I can guarantee you that the Spirit of God is still at work here in all His magnificent splendor. If you need a miracle, or know someone who does, get here, or get them here during Dominion Camp Meeting.
Second, there is the atmosphere. This is an intangible factor that can be better experienced than it can be explained. People have testified that they can feel it when they come onto the property, and especially when they come into the building. The activity and operation of the Holy Spirit is undeniable and indispensable. Without Him, we can do nothing—but thank God, we are not without Him!
We do our best to make the property presentable. We work very hard to make sure our people are prepared to welcome every visitor with a smile and with answers to their questions. We pray corporately and specifically that everyone will sense the Spirit of God moving and manifesting Himself in their situation, whatever it may be. But when it comes right down to it, nothing we can do can substitute for the Holy Spirit’s supernatural involvement and interaction.
Do you recall how it feels when there is thunder in the distance, and the leaves are showing their undersides in the freshening breeze, and the atmosphere feels like there is electricity in the air? That is what it feels like before a Dominion Camp Meeting service begins!
Third, even though their may be many reasons for the atmosphere, one that I believe has a greater impact than any other is this: expectancy. In fact, I asked God why supernatural things happened at some times and not at others, and He said to me: “The atmosphere of expectancy is the breeding ground of miracles.”
I know what I am expecting at Dominion Camp Meeting. I don’t know exactly what you are expecting, but I am in agreement with you that God will meet that need with His overwhelming presence, power, and provision!
Think about the effect of the expectation that everyone attending DCM is having. I can’t wait to see what God intends to do as we gather together. It will be supernatural and spectacular!
Fourth, there is the experience. Dominion Camp Meeting is not just another series of church services. It is not just one destination among many, or a box that you need to check on your religious calendar for the year. I believe that everyone who steps onto this campus will be irreversibly and irretrievably transformed forever. From the fellowship to the food trucks, from the praise and worship to the powerful preaching, from the beginning to the end, DCM is a place of divine reversal. The lost will be saved. The powerless will be filled with Pentecostal power. The bound will be set free. The sick and infirm will be healed. The depressed will be encouraged. The captives will be set at liberty, regardless of what has caused them to be shackled. People will go from chained to changed at Dominion Camp Meeting. I look forward to seeing you here!
